There is what we show the world and there is what lies beneath. Above and below the surface, we are layered, complex, and messy. Our masks, traumas, defenses, experiences, weaknesses, and strengths are all interconnected whether we allow them to be seen or not. Unconsciously or directly, we often say “do not pass go”, stopping others from going any further down. But when we let them in on all our beauty and mess and wonderment, we allow them to experience all of us. Ultimately we give the gift of connection and open the door to receive it back in return.
